Little Locathor Founds Red Carrots

Red Carrot

So much for family cooperation. The little locavore announced a few weeks ago his intention to found an organization called Red Carrot. Originally, he explained that he plans to host events that "bring families back to the table." Sound familiar?

Given his gift of gab, talent for sales, and general good fortune (just a few months back he won over $6,000 in a raffle), this revelation was occasion for concern. Especially since he's already had the opportunity to reveal his plans to the lovely Mrs. Tom Vilsack at Healthy Schools Campaign's annual fundraiser. It apparently made an impression as she shared the news at a meeting the next day.

Fortunately, he since has decided that Red Carrot will only assist Purple Asparagus in our educational programs. Whew. Lawyer-trained pappa locavore suggested that it become a wholly owned subsidiary, just after we amend our by-laws.

In the meantime, I thought I would share his lovely hand drawn logo.

  3. Given Thor's love of organizing, he'll be happy to learn that. Just tonight, he informed me that we're going to have regular meetings of Purple Asparagus and Red Carrot, so I guess I've got that going for me.

  5. Thanks for stopping by Mrs. Q. Don't know whether you saw my latest post on the Skillet Minister Cook-Off, which was a fun way to engage faith leaders on the issue of obesity in their congregations. Ironically, because of it, I get to participate in a conference call with Mrs. Obama and faith leaders. I say ironically because my own pastor would probably find it pretty unexpected that his prodigal congregant would find herself among a group of leaders in the faith community.

  6. Love this. Aside from his obvious charm and artistic talent, the boy gets points for recognizing that carrots come in colors other than orange. (Not that I'm surprised he knows such a thing.) Go, Thor!

  7. Christina, Thor and I were somewhere with another parent-child duo where they were asked to draw their favorite vegetables and Thor chose a yellow carrot. I was in the bathroom and the other mom had tried to convince him that carrots were only orange. He politely held his ground until I returned and confirmed his statement. Thanks for stopping by - hope your Thanksgiving was just delicious.
